Entrepreneur, Full stack developer, Machine learning engineer.
I'm Duncan Grimes, a senior at Vanderbilt University graduating in Spring 2025. I will be graduating with majors in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, as well as a minor in Business.
Please enjoy reading about some projects I've worked on and try a demo of the Rostr platform I built in Summer 2024.
For my culminating project at Vanderbilt, I tested and improved a binary classification model for detecting wildfires in an image. The model proved to be highly effective at detecting wildfires in low light conditions (at night), but struggled to detect fires in daylight.
I co-founded Rostr in the summer of 2024, with the mission to connect student-athletes with employers.
Please enjoy this demo, where you can play the role of a Rostr recruiter.
I created an experimental random recipe generator with some of my friends and classmates.
We used a dataset of 5,000 recipes to train a series of ML models to generate a random dish, determine the ingredients for that recipe,
and then generate an image of the finished product.
I worked as a Control Systems Engineer with the VBF, designing the digital controls for a soccer ball-sized nuclear fusion reactor.
Through this project I expanded my knowledge of systems design, negotiated with part distributors, and collobarated with a talented team of undergraduate engineers.
